Saturday Lunch & Coffee

Last Saturday, I had the blessing of being able to have lunch and coffee with 2 of my young friends from church – Jared and Joanna. There was no agenda except to catch up, enjoy the food and coffee. For lunch we tried out a fairly new Chinese restaurant near our church called Miss YueYue (41 Sgt. Esguerra, corner Sct. Bayoran St, Quezon City, 1103 Metro Manila). It is a noodle place that specializes in both wet and dry noodle dishes. The ambiance reminds me that of a Taiwan eatery. We ordered the Chicken One, Dan Dan Deal, A1 of a Kind, Kuchai Dumplings and the Pork and Shrimp Siomai. I found the dishes to be quite good and tasty (except for the siomai, which I find to be middling), albeit on the smaller serving size for a moderately big appetite eater like me. Overall it’s worth coming back to and I definitely will bring my family so that they can try it out.

After lunch, we decided to head on to Maginhawa for coffee. We tried out this funky new cafe called Kape’t Lang Cafe (131 Maginhawa corner Malingap St, Teacher’s Village, Diliman, Quezon City, 1101 Metro Manila) – It’s a study and work-friendly cafe that I find to be quite charming. It has mismatched decors and lamps giving each nook their own unique personality. The cafe is part of Mr. Jeepney – as the name indicates, a jeepney themed restaurant featuring fave Filipino comfort food. They even give out free stickers in the typical jeepney sign font, some of them are quite hilarious. The main area is comfortably air conditioned but a bit crowded so we choose to sit outdoors in the covered foyer area. I like this place and I am sure my coffee loving family will like this place too. There was even a photo booth right outside where we had our photos taken.

Joanna ordered the Taho Latte while Jared and I ordered the Orange-Cano – Espresso with orange juice. I like the citrusy Orange juice flavor mixed with the strong taste of a good smooth and full bodied espresso. It is one of my new fave iced-coffee drink flavor. All our drinks were good and refreshing, perfect post lunch drink on a muggy and humid afternoon. It was such a lovely way to spend the afternoon sipping our iced-coffee drinks while catching up with each other.

It was an afternoon well spent – delightful and life giving. This was my first opportunity to sit down and have in-depth fellowship with both Jared and Joanna. Hopefully, it won’t be the last time.

As usual, I had my camera with me and all photos were taken with my Fuji X-E5 and my fave Fuji lens, the classic 35mm f.1.4. I shot with the Eternal Classic film recipe for this set.
